Hey,
Siehe: I tried following your instructions as per ver 1.6, but the code needed
to go into a different area in the mod_fpslideshow.php. Not a major
problem, and after a few tweaks, I have it working.

Tobi,
now I need to ask for support in my own forum I just purchased FPSS 1.7 today and would like to use the dynamic way you described on your site for version 1.6.
Will you do me a favour and provide a tut for the 1.7 version asap (I know I´m very demanding )
Thanx in advance
M.

i wrote a tutorial for the fpss.
http://www.perfectsurf.de/tutorial-how-to-use-a-frontpage-slideshow-on-your-wordpress-blog/10112
but i will release a plugin soon that you can use to set up a slideshow with another WP-slideshow plugin. i just change the plugin so that it uses dynamic content.

One major customization I did was that I changed the FPSS.php so that I dont have to fill in the posts I want in my slideshow manually but they are pulled from the_loop automatically if they are in a certain category. And I use the_excerpt and the_title and the custom field (leadimage) so that all is put automatically to the slideshow. Was all pretty easy even without programming knowledge (which I dont have ;-))
I'm new to Wordpress (just installed it today for the first time) so would really appreciate a step by step guide on how you implemented this.

??? I didnt delete the index.php. I dont quite get your question? What is it exactly you wanna know? On my website I use the same index.php like in the original template except for some customizing work such as a different background color, slideshow instead of ui-tabs, different categories as featured articles and I put a second sidebad beneath the middle-column. I think that's it…

I thought the Frontpage Slideshow would be a bit more fancy than the ui-tabs, so I tried to change and I think I got it quite good looking. Any comments?
Can you tell me how you customized your site so that the static page would not show up as the default index.php? I'd like for my static page to show up in the 3-column format, and I'd like to eliminate the default home page. Did you delete your index.php file?
Thanks!

Yeah, unfortunately it cost me 22,- EUR. But for me, it's worth the money. Please read the forum of frontpageslideshow before you buy it. There are some people seeming to have problems with the script. Its natively written for Joomla, and it seems that its people using it on Joomla, who a experiencing the errors.
I tested my blog on IE7, Safari and Firefox and I do not get errors, so for me everything is fine. If anyone of you gets errors on my page please tell me your browser and OS Version.
Support from the guys who develop FPSS does not seem to be very good. Normally a behaviour I don't like, but as I said before fortunately for me everything works fine.
Once you bought the script its almost self-explanatory. Just delete the ui-tab call in the index.html and replace it with the slideshow-call. Some CSS-Adjustments and settings in the fpss.php and all is fine.
One major customization I did was that I changed the FPSS.php so that I dont have to fill in the posts I want in my slideshow manually but they are pulled from the_loop automatically if they are in a certain category. You can get it here. There you will also find instructions how to use it. I haven´t used it yet but it´s a great thing.

It´s great. I wanted to use it for the theme anyway but there are some legal issues due to the fact that this slideshow is not open source. If you bought it and use it for your site that´s fine but unfortunately I cannot use it for the theme at the moment…
