This prints the whole post content and not just the excerpt. If you have longer posts you need to “cut” it for the archive pages by using the “more” tag in the write post panel.

The URL you provided as an example (http://musictech4u.com/category/student-work/lanman/) is the category archive page. Here the text is displayed by using the_excerpt template tag which dows no allow any formating including links. This is why your link is displayed as plain text.

When you click on “comment” you get to the detail post page (actually to the comment form on that page). On that page the text including the links you entered is displayed with formats and that´s why the link works as you expect it to.

This has nothing to do with comments.

a. set it up so that the category archive has active links or

b. organize my site in some way so that people can find my students' music…

I am sorry if this has already been posted, I am having trouble searching this forum. I searched the WP forum and didn't see anything similar.

When a person creates a post, and uploads media (midi or audio file), the link to that media does not work until someone leaves a comment. Then it works. Does anyone know how to fix this?

example:

http://musictech4u.com/category/student-work/lanman/

If you enter a comment, it takes you to a new page that has the active link available. Otherwise you see the text for the link (the name of the song) but it's not an active link.

I've worked around it by having my students leave comments but I was wondering if anyone knows how to fix this. Also I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post. Thanks for any help you can give me.
